Every good and perfect gift comes from above – James 1:17

What a week we’ve had!
We started off with our “International Talk Like a Pirate day” Assembly, where we spoke to students about the shipwreck of Paul and how important it is to have someone (God, or a friend) in our lives to talk to in times of trouble. Let us share a gem of a joke with you from this assembly: Why are pirates called pirates?
Because they ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Our primary worker, Sarah, was blessed this week to attend the Introduction to Schools Ministry course run by Scripture Union in Sheffield. She has come back buzzing with enthusiasm and new ideas, and is getting ready to share all her new knowledge with the team – exciting stuff!

Emma and Jen got to spend some time at Stockport Academy meeting new Y7 students this week and supporting them with their transition to high school through clubs and fun activities. They both also witnessed moments of transformation in and following mentoring sessions, when students were able to be truly honest and their feelings and ask for help. Praise God for opening those students hearts to healing!

So this week the above verse from the book of James seems very pertinent: all good gifts do come from God above, and those good gifts can seem like the smallest things but can make all the difference: a listening ear, a funny assembly, a new idea, or even a week of surprise sunshine can transform our days. Thank God for his good gifts!

Prayer Points:
* Several of our team are fighting ill health at the moment. Josh has been laid low this week by a flu, Jen is valiantly fighting a cold, and Emma is scheduled for some hospital appointments this weekend to investigate long-term health problems. Please keep them all in your prayers!

* Our students. Working with more vulnerable students really opens our eyes up to how hard the summer holidays can be when a student’s home life is troubled. Please pray that these students settle back into schools well, and get the support they need.

*New clubs. Josh has started a new Guardians club at Abingdon Primary and Emma will be starting a new worship club at Cheadle Heath Primary with the help of Edgeley Community church. Please pray that these clubs are the start of deeper relationships with schools. Please also pray for church engagement in these clubs. **

** If you are part of a local Edgeley church and think you might like to volunteer or assist in a weekly worship club, please get in touch with Emma at emmah.cist@outlook.com **
