Aim

To become familiar with the story of Mary Jones
To recognize the value that Christians place on the Bible

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous half term about the Bible. The Bible is a very important book for Christians. In our country, today, Bibles are available in almost every book shop and can be bought very cheaply. But this has not always been the case.

Share with children the story of Mary Jones.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

  • write a character description of Mary.
  • talk / write about something they think is worth saving for.
  • find Wales and Bala on a map of Britain.
  • talk / write about their most precious possessions.
  • find out about the work of the Bible Society.
