Aim

To explore relationships between children. To know Jesus' Golden Rule.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about friendship.

Inform children about 'cold pricklies' and 'warm fuzzies'. Cold pricklies are actions which cause emotional or physical harm. Warm fuzzies have the opposite effect, causing people to feel good in and about themselves.

Explore these ideas through role play, sorting different actions and types of behaviour.

Which do the children like receiving - cold pricklies or warm fuzzies? Therefore, which should they give to other people?

Jesus taught people that they should treat other people the way they themselves like to be treated. This is known as Jesus' Golden Rule

Activity

Following discussion, group of children could:

  • draw a cold prickly and a warm fuzzy and their corresponding actions
  • write and decorate Jesus' Golden Rule
  • talk / write about a time they were given a warm fuzzy or a cold prickly.
