To explore children's concept and experience of friendship. To reflect on Jesus' friendships.

Lesson

Begin by reviewing the work which was done during the previous week. Inform the children that even though we are all different, we can be friends with each other.

Discuss friendship. Who are their friends? What is the best thing about being friends?

As a class or in group, children are to offer suggestions to complete the sentence, 'A friend is...'

Children talk / write about experiences which they have shared with their friends.

Jesus had many friends, many of whom were fishermen. Share with children the story of the call of the disciples (Luke 5).

Conclusion

Conclude with the necessary health warning about stranger danger.
