Your Face is Different from Mine |
|---|---|
AimTo produce a portrait of a class mate. To consider different images of Jesus. LessonRevise what was taught in the previous week. Inform children that although there are many similarities between people, there are also many differences. Probably, the most obvious of these is the fact that everyone's face is different. ActivityIn pairs, the children are to produce a portrait of their partner, using whatever medium you prefer. Encourage close observation. Ask children to compare these portraits to the self-portraits which they produced last term. Do the children see themselves differently from how other people see them? Children could also cut out from magazines pictures of people of different ages and races to make a collage, with the caption WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT, BUT WE ARE THE SAME. ConclusionInform children that no one really knows what Jesus looked like, but for many years, many different artists have painted him. Show children different images of Jesus. Which do they prefer and why? |
