Aim

To continue developing communication skills. To introduce the person of Jesus.

Lesson

Begin by informing children that before Christmas they thought about the question, 'Who am I?'

Over the next few weeks, they are going to be thinking about the question, 'Who are you?'

Choose a confident child to sit in the 'hot seat' and ask her a list of questions. The interview could include questions about the presents which the children gave and received at Christmas. Invite other children to ask questions. Try 'hot seating' other children. In pairs, children could interview each other. Pairs could report back to the rest of the class.

Inform children that this term they are going to be finding out about a person called Jesus. Using a copy of the Bible, show children the New Testament. Inform them that it is all about Jesus, starting with the story of His birth. What can they remember about the story of Jesus' birth? As this week includes Epiphany, focus on the story of the Wise Men.

The children may be interested or alarmed to know that in many parts of the world, children do not get their presents until after Christmas.
