My Favourite Things |
|---|---|
AimTo develop a sense of thankfulness. LessonBegin by telling or showing children some of your 'favourite' things. These can include a whole range of things from generalities such as 'chocolate' to personal treasures. Invite children to talk about some of their 'favourite things'. How do these things make the children feel? Are there any stories connected with these favourite things. Following discussion, invite children to draw a picture of their favourite thing, which can then be added to their self-portrait. Who can the children thank for their favourite things? Parents? Friends? What about favourite things which are natural - such as snow, or a tree, or a flower? At this time of the year, many people thank God for such things, because the Bible says that He made them. Share with children an appropriate version of the creation story or a version of Psalm 136. (You do not need to dwell too much on the belief that God created humans as this is covered in Week 5) |
