Begin by discussing 'special' journeys which the children have made. Where did they go to? What was the purpose? Ask children to write about this journey.

Inform the children that Muslims have to make a special journey at least once in their lifetime. This is called Hajj. If available, show images of pilgrims in Mecca. Give details of some of the activities in which the pilgrims are involved.

If possible, interview a Muslim who has been on hajj.
