LessonBegin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about the pupils' pillars. Inform them that the pillars which they are going to be learning about this half-term are the Pillars of Islam. Brainstorm the word 'Islam' with the pupils. What is the extent of their knowledge? Allow children to discuss Muslim beliefs, customs and practices. Focus on Muslim beliefs. Are they able to sum these up in one sentence? Muslims do. This statement of faith is called The Shahadah. It says, 'There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is His Prophet.' Show examples of how the Shahadah is written in Islamic script. Revise with children the story of Mohammed. What are their responses to the story? ConclusionConclude lesson by asking children to sum up their own beliefs in a single sentence. |
