To begin to understand the role of the prophet.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about the Proverbs. While there is only one book of Proverbs in the Bible, there are many different books of prophecy. A prophet was a person who told others about God's standards for today and his plans for the future. One of the books of prophecy in the Bible is the book of Ezekiel.

Share with the children the story of Ezekiel.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could do one of the following suggested activities.

• sing the song 'Dem bones, dem bones'
• write / talk about situations which they believe to be hopeless
• explore the story of the valley of Dry Bones through dance, drama or music
• make a list of predictions for the coming year.
