Begin by informing the children that this term they are going to be learning about the Church Year. The Church Year describes the way the Christian Church divides up the year with different celebrations and events. Discuss other ways of dividing up the year - twelve months, four seasons, three terms.

Activity

Ask the children to complete the Diary Dates worksheet, inserting for each month their most important dates / events e.g. birthdays, summer holiday, festivals.

Invite volunteers to share their calendars with the rest of the class.

Following discussion, share with children the diagram of the Church Year.
