Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about God as sustainer. In the story of Elijah, God saves him from the anger of King Ahab.

In many Old Testament stories, God is shown as a saviour. Most famously, He saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Hundreds of years later, the Israelites were slaves again. This time they were slaves in the country of Babylonia.

Share with children the story of Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

  • write about a time when they were saved.
  • read the second extract from Psalm 33.
