Justice |
|---|---|
AimTo explore the concept of justice. PreparationBefore the lesson prepare resource material. LessonRevise what was taught and shared in the previous lesson about 'evil'. Inform children that following his battle with Apollyon, Christian continued his journey through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. This was even worse than his fight with Apollyon, and Christian would have given up, had he not met another pilgrim, Faithful. Share with the children the story of the pilgrims' experiences in the town of Vanity, including their trial and Faithful's execution. This could be done as a role play with the teacher assuming the role of Lord Hategood. Ask for the children's opinions of the trial. Lead the discussion onto a consideration of the word 'justice'. Conduct a brain-storming session. Discuss the children's responses. Have they ever been victims of injustice? The children could use their ideas to compose an acrostic on the word JUSTICE. In the same way that Christians fight against evil, they also fight for justice. ActivityIn groups, the children could research the work of such individuals and groups as: Martin Luther King ConclusionConclude by reminding children that John Bunyan was himself the victim of injustice as he spent a total of thirteen years in prison for telling people about God. |
