Continue the story of Christian's journey, beginning with the morning after his night in the room of peace and finishing with the appearance of Apollyon. What do the children think Apollyon symbolizes? Apollyon is a symbol of evil. What is evil? Use the worksheet to guide discussion on this highly sensitive topic. Following discussion, inform children that whatever evil may be may or wherever it may come from, Christians believe that Jesus gives them the power to overcome it. Share with the children the fight between Christian and Apollyon. Discuss the tactics which are used by both Christian and Apollyon in the fight. Use the worksheet and resource sheet to record this information. Suggested answers to the worksheet are available. (Note that Apollyon is not killed. He lives to fight another day, symbolizing the Christian belief that evil will continue on Earth until Jesus returns.) Christians try to fight evil whenever and wherever they encounter it.
