To explore poetry as an act of worship.

Lesson

Begin by reviewing the work which was done in the previous lesson. Inform children that another important form of worship for Christians is poetry. Most Christian poets are inspired by the events of Jesus' life, death and resurrection.

Share the poem Christmas is really for the children with the children.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• choose one of the Stations as a stimulus for writing a poem.
• write a kenning about Jesus.
• read the work of other Christian poets.
