Sudanese Cross

Why not make your own Sudanese cross? You will need: garden cane; bright yellow insulating tape or reflector tape; Sellotape; a black marker pen or black paint; and garden twine.

  1. Cut up the cane into lengths of 7" and 3", which together can be used to form the cross shape.
  2. Ideally, the cane should first be painted / coloured black like ebony wood.
  3. Attach the cross-piece to the upright with the twine. Use some Sellotape to make the join firmer.
  4. Stick pieces of the yellow tape at intervals around the upright and cross-piece of your cross.
