Aim

To become aware of the similarities and differences between Jesus and Moses. To become familiar with the story of the Transfiguration.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson. Inform children that another connection between Pesach and Easter is that between Jesus and Moses.

Use the worksheet (and answers) to explore this connection.

Following discussion, inform children that the Gospel writers were very keen to show that although Moses and Jesus are alike, Jesus is greater. Three of the Gospel tell a story which makes this point. This story is known by Christians as the Transfiguration.

Share with children the story of the Transfiguration (Luke 9:28-36).

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• find out about Elijah's seat at the Seder meal
• relate the story from Peter's point of view.
