To explore the symbolism of the seder meal.

Lesson

Revise what was taught in the previous lesson about 'chametz' and preparing for Pesach. The main part of the Pesach celebration is a special meal called the Seder.

Use text, images and artefacts to inform children about the Seder.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• make their own Seder plate
• design their own plate of symbolic food to remember an important event in their lives
• in their own words, write the answers to the four questions asked at the beginning of the meal
• make charoset
• interview a Jewish visitor about Pesach.
