Aim

To further explore the character of Moses.
To reflect on their own experiences.

Lesson

Review what was taught in the previous week about the Jews in Egypt and the story of Moses. There were many reasons why Moses was unsuitable as a leader, but nevertheless he was the person whom God chose to lead the Jews out of Israel. God also chose a very dramatic way in which to tell Moses about His escape plan for the Jews. By this time, Moses was an old man, married with a son and working as a shepherd for his father-in-law.

Share with the children: Exodus 3:1-4:20

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

  • write about a time when they were unwilling to do a job.
  • read chapter four and add to their worksheet on Moses. (Answers are available.)
  • talk / write about how God is presented in the story.
  • write an account of the incident from Moses' point of view.
  • continue frieze or zigzag book.
  • watch the relevant section of the Testament video.
