It was spring. The nights were fragrant with the perfume of jasmine. The moon flooded the whole landscape with his cool and gentle light. Nature was all smiles. On such a night, Krishna went for a stroll, playing his flute.

From all directions, young women appeared, lost in the music of Krishna's magic flute. Krishna looked at them.

He said, "Why have you all come to the forest at this time of night? Is it to enjoy the moonlight? There could be wild animals prowling about. Please go back home. Your families will be worried."

Tears of disappointment began to flow from the girls' eyes. One of them said, "Our hearts are aching for the music of your flute, a look from your eyes, a kiss from your lips. Please have pity on us and accept our love."

Krishna said nothing, but began to sing and dance. And as he did so, many Krishnas appeared. But each girl could only see the Krishna who was dancing with her. Each believed that Krishna loved her the most and felt proud in her heart.

The girls and the Krishnas danced in a circle. each girl believing that she alone held the hand of the beautiful god. None of them was aware how the time passed.

When the long, long night came to an end, Krishna persuaded the girls to return home.
