In our imagination we're going to visit the cave in
which Jesus was born...
Close your eyes and see yourself standing in the mouth of the
cave...
Look around and notice how big it is...and what you can see...
If there's any light, where is it coming from?...
Is it warm or cold?...
Who is there ?...
What kind of animals can you see?...
Listen to any sounds...
What can you smell?...
Can you see the baby Jesus?... Go a bit nearer if you wish...
Is he asleep or awake?... Is he silent, or crying, or
gurgling?...
If you'd like to hold him in your arms Mary will give him to
you...
If you'd rather watch Mary holding him, that's fine...
He needs to be held very carefully...
Can you feel his warmth?... Is he awake?... Is he smiling at
you?...
Rock him gently in your arms... and then carefully give him back to
Mary...
You hear someone enter the cave so you turn to see who it is...
Go and speak with that person...
What does the person say?...
What do you say?...
And now it's time to leave our imaginary visit to the
nativity scene, and slowly to come back to the classroom... Wriggle
your toes and when you're ready open your eyes and have a good
stretch.
