Hola! ... This is Spanish for 'Hello!'

Low pay

Many farmers in the world grow food such as coffee or tea which they sell as export crops. But they are usually paid very little for their work - hardly enough to live on.

Fair wage

Christian Aid helps farmers in many countries to get a fair wage for their work. Then there is more money for food, clothes and education for their children.

Rosario Castellon works for PRODECOOP. She says,

'I help farmers like the woman in this picture to grow coffee beans and look after the land. We sell our coffee to Cafédirect, a company which sells it in the UK. Cafédirect pays a fair price for the beans they buy. Fair trade is so important for farmers in Nicaragua.'
