- Campaigning
- Trying to make the world a better place by doing something to
change it, such as buying fairly traded coffee or speaking out about
things that are unfair.
- Export crops
- Food such as coffee and sugar which is not eaten by the farmers who
grow it but is sold to other countries.
- Fair trade
- Trade between countries which gives farmers a price that is fair
for their share of the work.
- Famine
- A time in poor countries when people have not been able to grow
enough food to eat and do not have enough money to buy food.
- Food aid
- Food which is sent to places where there is a famine. Partner
organisation An organisation in a poor country which is given money by
Christian Aid. It helps people who live there to improve their
lives.
- Poor countries
- Countries where most people are poor. They are often hot countries
in the southern part of the world, for example, India, Ethiopia and
Nicaragua.
- Project
- The work that a partner organisation does with local people, such
as putting in a water pump, or looking after farming land.
- Supporters
- People in this country who help Christian Aid by giving money,
being volunteers or campaigning.
- Volunteers
- People who work without getting paid, usually because they believe
what they are doing is very important.
- World's resources
- The things that people need to live, such as land, food, water and
money.
