The story starts a long time ago...

After the Second World War lots of people in Europe had nowhere to live. Ordinary people in the British and Irish churches set up an organisation to help them. This became 'Christian Aid'.

Today Christian Aid helps people in 60 poor countries to improve their lives. We spend £40 million a year. That is a lot of money!

The money is sent to Christian Aid's partner organisations which work with poor people in their own countries. Christian Aid and its partners are like good friends.

What we believe - Making the world a fairer place

Fair balance

Christian Aid believes that we have to make the world a fairer place to end poverty. People in rich countries like ours can make this happen by doing something, however small, to change the world. Christian Aid runs special campaigns with its supporters. One of the things we ask people to do is to drink coffee which has been fairly traded. This means coffee farmers get more money for the things they need.
