Through oral or written work, children could demonstrate their ability to:

  • retell some of the stories in this unit of work and identify Christian beliefs about God as Creator and Sustainer of life and the necessity to thank Him. (L2, AT1a)
  • describe Christian beliefs about God as Creator and Sustainer of life and the importance which Christians attach to an attitude of thankfulness. (L3, AT1a)
  • identify thankfulness as a feature of religious life within Christianity and Judaism. (L2, AT1b)
  • describe how thankfulness is exemplified through the festival of Harvest. (L3, AT1b)
  • suggest meanings in the Harvest parables. (L2, AT1c)
  • make links between the Harvest prayer and hymn and Christian beliefs about God. (L3, AT1c)
  • respond sensitively to others' experiences of being thankful. (L2, AT2a)
  • compare their own experiences of thankful to those of others. (L3, AT2a)
  • realize that it is difficult to posit a reason for the existence of the Earth. (L2, AT2b)
  • compare their own ideas about Creation with those of others. (L3, AT2b)
  • respond sensitively to Christian values concerning the stewardship of Creation. (L2, AT2c)
  • make links between the value of thankfulness and their own attitudes and behaviour. (L3, AT2c)
