Francis talked to everyone and everything that would listen to him. One day, he saw a great flock of birds in a meadow.

"My little brothers and sisters," said Francis, "God loves you. He has given you wings and beautiful feathers. He has give you the air to fly in and the freedom to fly wherever you want. He feeds you and gives you rivers and fountains to drink from. He gives you mountains and valleys as a safe place for you, and high trees to build your nests in. Your creator shows you how much He loves you by giving you so much. So it is your duty to sing to God all day long."

The birds all opened their beaks and beat their wings together. Francis said a prayer for them and they flew up into the sky, all singing God's praises.
