One Shabbat, Jesus went into a synagogue to teach. A man was there whose right hand was paralysed. There were also some other Rabbis there, who wanted to see Jesus do something wrong so that they could tell on Him. They watched Jesus closely to see if He would heal the man on Shabbat.

Jesus said to the man with the paralysed hand, "Stand up here in front of everyone."

Then Jesus asked the other Rabbis. "What does the Torah allow us to do on Shabbat? To help or to harm? To save a man's life or to destroy it?"

But the other Rabbis did not say a thing. Jesus was angry as He looked at them. But He was also sad because they were so stubborn.

Then Jesus said to the man, "Let me see your hand."

The man put his hand out for Jesus, and it was healed.

Then the other Rabbis left and began making plans with the followers of King Herod. They planned a way to kill Jesus.
