Mezuzah are little boxes which contain a tiny scroll with the words
of the Shema written on it. |

 |
A mezuzah is nailed to the frame of every door in a Jewish home,
except the bathroom.
People in the house often touch the mezuzah as they go in and out or
as they move from room to room. This is a way of remembering the words
of the Shema.
Every three years, a mezuzah is opened to make sure that the scroll
inside has not been damaged and the writing has not faded. |
