Tefillin are little boxes which contain a tiny scroll with the words
of the Shema written on it.
Jewish men strap tefillin onto their arm and forehead using long
leather straps.
One box is strapped high up the left arm next to the heart. This
shows that the Jewish man wants to love God with all his strength and
his heart.
The box on the forehead shows that he wants to love God with all his
mind.
