Notes
As well as knowing that Jesus was a Jew, I believe that pupils
should know that His earliest followers were also, almost-exclusively,
Jewish. For this reason, work in the first half term of this topic
focusses on the apostle Peter. In the second half-term, some
consideration is given to the persecution of Christians both in the
past and the present. Some teachers may feel that this is inappopriate
for pupils at Lower Key Stage 2. Yet, once again, if this aspect of
Christianity is overlooked then there is a great danger of presenting a
'meek and mild' version of Christianity which poses no
challenge to anyone.
- Note
- The work for this year should not be split up into separate units
or delivered in a different order.
