NotesIn order to properly appreciate the three individual faiths in the Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition, it is vital to gain a good grounding in the oldest of the three: Judaism. In the first half-term of this unit, the work focuses on the Torah, which itself lies at the heart of Judaism. In the plans and resource sheets, I use the word 'Torah' in its narrowest sense as refering to the Five Books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. For Jews, however, Torah represents the whole of the Jewish teaching from its beginning right up to the present day. In the second half-term, pupils study the celebration of Shabbat, as it offers many insights into the Jewish way of life and the role of the Jewish home.
