Aim

To consider Peter's failings. To reflect on own failings.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about Peter's Confession. Peter wasn't perfect. He often said and did things before thinking about them. When Jesus was arrested, Peter had drawn his sword and cut off the ear of one of the High Priest's servants. As if that were not bad enough, that very same evening, Peter went on to disgrace himself even further.

Share with children the story of Peter's Denials.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

  • talk / write about a time when they said or did something before thinking
  • consider what they would have done in Peter's place
  • read about weather cocks
  • add to their character profile of Peter
  • 'hot-seat' Peter
