To introduce Christian beliefs about Jesus' death.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson. In the Book of Isaiah, the Messiah is also called the 'Suffering Servant'. Jesus also taught his disciples that as the Messiah, He would suffer a terrible death.

Share with children the story of Jesus' death.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• read the first extract from the book of Isaiah
• talk / write about a time when they have suffered
• study different images of the crucifixion
• read sections of the story and make a list of different ways in which Jesus suffered
