To explore the story of Jesus' temptations.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about Jesus as the Son of God. Immediately after His baptism, the Bible says that Jesus was led into the desert. He was there for 40 days, during which time, He ate nothing. The devil came to Jesus to tempt him. The devil wanted Jesus to prove that He was the Son of God.

Share the story of Jesus' temptations with the children.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• interview a Christian about Lent
• talk about temptations which they have faced, especially of the sort which begin, 'If you were really my friend...' or 'If you were really brave...'
• explore, through role play, a temptation of this sort
• look at an image of this episode.
