Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about Jesus the Healer. Jesus' teaching and healing made Him very popular with ordinary people, but it got Him into trouble with other Rabbis.

Share with children the story of Jesus healing the man on Shabbat.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• talk / write about something they did which got them into trouble
• discuss Jesus' saying 'Shabbat was made for man, not man for Shabbat'
• read the list of insults Jesus used against other Rabbis
• discuss who was right, Jesus or the other Rabbis.
