To introduce the concept of the Kingdom of God.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about Jesus the Rabbi. Last week they learned about where, whom and how Jesus taught, but what did He teach?

All of Jesus' teaching can be summed up in one phrase, 'The Kingdom of God'.

Use text to explain to children the meaning of this phrase.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• read and respond to the Parable of the Mustard Seed
• interview a Christian about the Kingdom of God
• write a list of questions you might have asked Jesus about God's Kingdom
• imagine they were kings and queens. What would their kingdoms be like?
