Lesson

Begin by informing the children that this term they are going to be learning about Judaism. Judaism is the religion followed by Jewish people. What, if anything, do the children know about Judaism? Discuss.

At the heart of Judaism, there is a holy book called the Torah.

Use video, artefacts, images or text to inform children about the Torah.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

• create their own scroll.
• read the story of how God gave the Torah to the Jews.
• talk about a book which is special to them.
• use a Bible to find the names of the books of the Torah.
