The Rich Fool |
|---|---|
AimTo begin to understand Christians teachings about greed. PreparationBefore the lesson read the parable (Luke 12:13-21). Prepare 'building blocks'. LessonRevise what was taught in the course of the previous week. Ask children what they would do if, like the farmer in the parable from the previous lesson, they found some treasure. What would they buy with it? With whom would they share it? In the Bible, Jesus tells another story about a farmer. Christians call this story The Parable of the Rich Fool. Share the parable with the children. Discuss with the children what the farmer could have done with his crop instead of putting it in storage. Christians believe that being greedy is wrong. Unlike the farmer, Christians should think about the needs of other people and remember always to thank God for what they have got. ActivityThe children could write an alternative version of the parable or an imaginative account of what they would do if they found treasure. |
