Through oral or written work, children could demonstrate their ability to:

  • recount outlines of one / some of the following stories - Abraham and Sarah, Jacob's Ladder, Joseph, Passover. (L1, AT1a)
  • retell one / some of the following stories - Abraham and Sarah, Jacob's Ladder, Joseph, Passover and identify key Judeo/Christian beliefs about God, e.g. God cares about people, God keeps His promises, God is active, God has a special relationship with the Jews. (L2, AT1a)
  • recognize a relationship with God as being a feature of the religious life. (L1, AT1b)
  • identify the communal meal as a practice found within Judaism and Christianity. (L2, AT1b)
  • recognize the words 'Old Testament', 'Jewish', 'Passover', and the symbolic food in the Seder meal. (L1, AT1c)
  • suggest meanings in the the story of Jacob's Ladder and the symbolic food used in the Seder meal. (L2, AT1c)
  • identify experiences of waiting, jealousy, forgiveness, change, amusement. (L1, AT2a)
  • respond sensitively to the experiences of others. (L2, AT2a)
  • identify the puzzling nature of dreams. (L1, AT2b)
  • realize that events can be interpreted in different ways, e.g. for Christians and Jews, certain events can be interpreted as the actions of God. (L2, AT2b)
  • identify the value of family relationships. (L1, AT2c)
  • respond sensitively to the Biblical values of faithfulness and forgiveness. (L2, AT2c)
