Aim

To revise the story of Passover.
To become familiar with how Jewish families remember this event.

Lesson

Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson. Inform the children that the Jews continued to live in Egypt for many years after Jacob and Joseph died. But the Egyptians made them into their slaves. God promised the Jews that He would set them free from Egypt.

Can the children remember how He did it?

Every year, around this time, Jewish families have a special meal to remember how God set the Jews free from Egypt.

Use text and artefacts (if available) to inform children about the Passover meal.

Activity

Following discussion, groups of children could:

  • make a paper Seder plate
  • make charoset.
