Aim
To explore the metaphor of the Good Shepherd.
Lesson
Begin by revising what was taught in the previous lesson about Jesus as a special teacher. Recall with the children's help, the parable of the Lost Sheep.
Jesus also described himself as The Good Shepherd.
Use image and text to explore this metaphor with the children.
Activity
Following discussion, groups of children could:
- read Psalm 23
- play 'follower my leader' games
- make a list of the qualities of a good shepherd
- find out about some other titles which Jesus gave Himself.
