Standing like a skeleton
Black against the sky
Tree in the winter,
Waiting for life;
Waiting for the sunshine
Bringing buds again
Waits through the darkness,
Snow, frost, and rain.
Standing like umbrellas
Green against the sky,
Trees in the summer
Bursting with life;
Thank God for oak trees,
Beech and palm and pine,
Thank God for fruit trees,
Peach, plum and vine.
Standing in the autumn
Trees red and brown,
Conkers are falling
Down to the ground;
How can so much beauty
Come when trees are old?
Thank God for autumn
Season of gold.
