We’d like to introduce you to Duncan Candler, our new Secondary Schools Worker, who joins us in a p/t position from Monday, 2 March. Duncan lives in East Manchester with his wife Becky and came to Manchester from Ireland in 2009 to Study Youth and Community Work at University.
Duncan comes to us after many years experience in Children’s and Youth work in a wide range of contexts. He loves sport both playing & watching and is a big rugby fan. Duncan also likes food and tells us that anyone who gives him a nice steak will be a friend forever!
Duncan says: “A Christian from a young age, I enjoy life and I seek to live my life for God’s glory – I’m very excited to get going with CiST”
We’re looking forward to welcoming Duncan as part of the team and we’re sure you’ll get to meet him in person soon.
July 11th saw another brilliant night at the 8th annual Stars of Respect Awards. Held at The Message Trust building in Sharston, we were treated to some of Stockport’s most talented young people singing, dancing, drumming and playing the saxophone. We also were privileged to award our Stars of Respect to some amazing children, young people and school staff. Roll on 2015!
Andrew completes the London Marathon to raise funds for Christians in Schools!
On April 13th Andrew took part in his first ever marathon in London. He successfully completed the race in 4 hours and 20 minutes and even managed to enjoy some of it despite being in agony for the last 7 miles. He was running the race to raise funds for both Christians in Schools projects and also his own charity – Shine like Stars. You can still sponsor him at www.my.give.net/andrewsmarathon
